Crisis Averted

My car is fixed! Quentin turned up with a new battery, put it in, and the car started. But then it stopped and wouldn't start again. So I started getting angry. We thought that maybe the battery was too small, so Quentin went away and came back with another one (and yes, the person had sold us one that was too small). So he put that one in and it still wouldn't start. It was turning over but just wasn't quite there, and I was on the verge of tears. Quentin kept on trying and it eventually started! (someone had flooded it - and it wasn't me because I know better). So now I am so happy that all it needed was a new battery and I only had to spend $100 on it not god knows how much if there was something else wrong with it. Now I can relax...roll on holidays - only one day of work left!

Cars - Who Would Have 'Em?

As you know, I got a new car a couple of months ago. Well, yesterday afternoon I was ready to leave work. I got in the car, turned the key, and it started. Everything was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. I started to reverse up the hill, and had moved about a cars length and was at the top of the hill, then the radio stopped and so did the car. It just died. At first I though that it may have just stalled, so I tried starting it again, and there was just silence. So I pushed it down the hill so it was out of the rain so we could have a tinker under the bonnet. I called my dad and he said that it was the battery, so my boss charged it over night. I got to work this morning and tried it again but no success. We found some jumper leads but we can't get a car to reach it, and because the boss has gone for the day, we can't use his 4WD to move it. So Quentin (bless him) is going to buy a battery and come out here and try it this afternoon. So fingers crossed that it will work otherwise I don't know what I'll do. I'll keep you posted.

Housewarming/Christmas/Birthday Party

Last night we went to a housewarming/christmas party at our old friend Louisa's place in Tauranga. It was great catching up with friends that I haven't seen in a while, and we got to reminisce about the good old days when we were young and innocent (?). Actually, a lot of those stories involved Debra Fish sneakily getting everyone drunk, either by topping up bottles of KGB's with vodka, or telling a friend she was drinking fanta when it really was Screwdriver....yes we came to the conclusion that she was a bad influence. After a while, and to my great joy, Louisa cranked out Singstar 80's. Well no one (except Hayley, Debra and myself) wanted to sing at first, and after a few of us had a couple of turns each, everyone else got over their shyness and joined in.

Debra claimed the night as her birthday party, as it was her birthday the next day, and lovely Pam (who is back again from Australia) baked her a cake.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Last weekend I finally put up my christmas tree, which is rather late for me considering in past years I have put it up in November (if not before). But I am finding that now I am not working in retail, it does not feel like christmas. It took me quite a while to complete the tree decorating process, because tree decorating is not merely a fun activity, it is a form of art. And look, it even has some presents under it (unfortunately, non of them are for me)
